It’s a start. Will it be enough?
The big guns of the world otherwise known as the Group of Eight (as in eight richest nations) agreed on a 50% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 according to the New York Times.
The summary of the agreement (non-binding) is best summed up by Dot Earth blogger Andrew Revkin.
Scientists pretty much agree this is not enough. In fact, all of us could shut down emissions entirely and it still wouldn’t be enough if China, India and everyone else don’t get on board.
But hey- not too long ago this administration was silencing National Climate scientists. It’s a start people.
Next step is Cap and Trade. The sooner we get Cap and Trade or some other major economic incentive for renewable energy the sooner we will see this country roar.
